have to agree with you. general servicing is pretty easy on the surfs, as long as the filters arent put on too tight , by someone else, like some have been finding, but once you have done it yourself and done regularly, not too bad.
my filters were changed in Japan from the guys whom imported,
so they just came off with the filter wrench easy
but the engine has loads of room to work in,
i have always serviced my Skyline GTR myself which is very tight
gonna drain the rad next and fill up with coolant
should i go for the red stuff or green
always used red coolant in my GTR but currently my surf has green?
As other dude said mate. Drain fully first and dont ever mix..... use toyota red if at all posible....One thing ive learnt with my surf. pay close attention to radiator, cooling, hose condition etc TOYOTA RED mate.....remember drain all other stuff out.. ASIAN AND EUROPEAN COOLANTS DONT MIX WELL.. another thing bro.... surfs radiators are often known to get tiny pin prick holes especially on the top part, that can seep and leave you stumped.. This is common so as above check this area regualary... surf's up!!!!!
i use red coolant in both the surf and the soarer it might cost a bit but in my experience it is worth it, i have seen engines that have been stripped down that have used red from new and there is no sign of pitting in fact the water ways have been like new, some people think its a bit of toyota propaganda re the coolant but it is mixed and designed to match their engines .
