4wd Gear Box

Hi surfers, i wander if i can ask a very thick question.
My surf is a 2nd gen 3ltr KNZ130 and need to know if my 4wd box is mechanical only or like the auto box you need to top up / change oil.
If gearbox oil, which is best to go for and where the hell do you top up.
Where is the dip stick if it as one.

Its a mech, chain driven transfer. The drain and fill plug are on the back.

Fill plug is half way up, full till it reaches this level.
