well, I offered him slightly less and I now have an Oct 93 3.0 ssrx sitting outside
will take it to the diesel wizard in the morning but having driven it again I'm pretty sure the turbo is boosting as it's got plenty of grunt low down on part throttle, we shall see, but I am a happy bunny for now
Good man!!!! Try all the cheap obvious first mate, fuel filter air filter oil change, etc, then disconnect batts overnight. All the stuff mentioned so far that dont cost ought
my feeling is it's fuel related, it just feels starved, when cruising at about 40-50, floored it and it kicked down no problem, I expect it was needing about 3750rpm but as it won't rev past 3500 there was the effect of engine braking to bring it back to 3500...
Sounds like limp mode, get you home style. Could be ecu related then.
Its the filter 10 to 1 and i know nothing about cars. I came back from Italy with exact same problem and in the end, even although computer reading a fault it was only the filter and computer sorted itself.

Are you sure it’s a 3:0 and that someone hasn’t transplanted a gutless 2.4 lump in there
defo a 3.0, leccy injection pump and the simplest timing belt setep I've ever seen
but my diesel man is pretty sure it's filters too but he didn't have time to look at it today, and I know it's simple enough to change the filters but I'm up to my eyes in broken Alfa's (big shock there then) and need to do some fast learning on these tractor fuel things...
engine picks up okay on part throttle but still will not rev beyond 3.5k, full throttle makes no difference, there is a hesitation, a misfire in petrol speak and the idle has a very slightly hesitation as well.
Turbo appears healthy as can be heard whistling away and varies with rev's
No signs of overheating
we have tried:
new fuel filter.
connected injection pump directly to a jerry can to eliminate everything else in the fuel system.
removed air filter.
disconnected exhaust at the down pipe so not collapsed exhaust,
disconnected egr valve.
removed fuel pressure regulator ball to ensure not over fuelling although it's not smokey enough, or at all really to support this theory.
thoughts?
our suspicions currently lie with the injectors and or injection pump, are the electric pumps on the 3.0 reliable and what would a failing pump do?
also, can someone point me at the OBD reading instructions, I stumbled on them yesterday and have spent the last hour looking for them again without success...
Could it be throttle position sensor? Or ECU maybe? If you can find someone locally with a 3.0 you can just swap bits over try it and swap back until you find problem.
Unfortunately mine is a 2.4. Check the turbo pipe from turbo to inlet manifould dont have leaks or splits, turbo would spool fine but wouldnt boost properly. Could be pump that is prob but if diagnostic dont pick it up it may not be.

mine has a simliar problem and mine also stalls and shakes and shudders when warmed up and under hard brakeing at juctions also drops revs to below 300rpms.
done all you did and also had the ing pump replaced (£400)and it's still doing it,im looking at ecu or injectors next,good luck mate

been able to find the fault code reading routine for the static codes but not the real time so will check that tomorrow but any other thoughts in the meantime?
as we know reading codes from the ECU should be pretty far down the fault tracing road to rule out the obvious physical 1st, anyway, did my reading and went to the car this morning, no fault light showing
checked the auto box routines and working properly and showing no fault, so back to the engine check light, didn't even light when the ignition was turned on.... confused but suspicious....
decided to pull the dash to bits and lo-and-behold, led for the check light is missing, been snapped off oh and the timing belt warning light has also been removed
quick run down the road to the electronics man and new led attached, all back together and it works! but not reporting any faults from the ecu.
so I am still thinking injectors are choked as the injection pump would report a fault to the ecu, no?
or other thought is the EGR, brief explaination of how to remove the egr system all together?
not a bad plan sancho but it is getting fuel but not enough, foot flat down it wont rev past 3500rpm, mate is organising getting it to an injection specialist to get the injectors tested/cleaned properly.
getting sad now, bought it nearly a week ago and have only done about 10 miles in it
further thickening of the plot has occurred.... spoke to my mech this evening, he's been speaking to a diesel specialist who was aware of the problem my truck has, it was apparently booked in with him in November but never showed up
so 2 current things to check, timing may be out, possibly a bit retarded or the injection pump, may be looking for a pump soon
