auto gearbox oil????

people just going to top up auto box oil not sure the difference between dexron II and atf-g auto trans oils ??????

is there much difference????

could be an idea to get that out and put ,as nero says,dexron 11 or 111 in,it could prove costly to run on the wrong stuff

I would drain the box and flush it through with dexron II before filling back up (with dex II), as atf-g is intended for Ford & Borg Warner autos.
These boxes probably have bearings & seals of different composition to what a surf has, and the oil is probably a different viscosity to dex II. Atf-g is probably doing your box no favours

ok guys thanks for the replys.

Right to drain the auto box is it the little bolt at the back of the flat area of the box??? if so undo that drain oil then refill via the dipstick hole??

Dexron II and III are designed to allow a little slip when changing gear ATF-G is not you will not be doing your clutch plates any favours.
