has it had new filters...air,and fuel filters,if so you may have air in the fuel lines/injectors.Also put in some redex or atf to clean the fuel system a bit

Sledge had the same thing on his 2.4 and TonyN found there was still air in the system.you need to slacken each injector and have someone turn the engine over to make sure all the air is out.

This is all i can think off at the mo

The primer is on top of the fuel filter. The round thing you need to press till its firm and hard then try starting

you need to slacken each injector one at a time and give it a good turning over, to bleed all air out

I had this problem after changing the fuel filter..It happened a few days later so i kinda suspected air in the system..On that occassion, it cleared itself..

However, on a diesel van i had, the firing and dying happened out of the blue..The AA guy was confident it was a "sucking air" problem, but even then it took him a while to find a small patch on a fuel line that had gone porous..It wasn't split, just thin enough to draw air..One pipe later and it was cured..

Your issue does sound spookilly similar.
