  • Another 'will it fit' question.

Apologies up front, as this has probably been done to death.

Will 31x10.5x15 tyres fit a standard 2nd Gen 3.0 without any suspension/ wheel mods?

I make them a touch taller/ wider than the standard 265/70/15's?

Anyone got any experience of Yokohama Geolander A/T's? Any good or overpriced pap?

    Yep!
    They look better too.

Pants in the wet - coped off road well though over all kinds of terrain.

How can I be lost when I've got no where to go

Thank you very much for the feedback Gents.

Presumably the 31x10.5x15's will fill the wheel arches a bit better?

I'd like to go to BFG's, but not sure if I can afford them.

General Grabber A/T's or the Colway A/T's would be another choice.

My current Geolander road tyres are useless in the wet. Dunno why I thought the A/T version would be any different.

yeah, the 31's will fill the arches a bit better!

Check out that site. They have a good selection of 31's

The Falkens would be around £200 for 4 + fitting. I had them on my 1st surf an whilst not great fun in the wet all round, they seemed ok.

I have the Geolandar AT-S on the rear, and ageing I/Ts on the front - OK in the wet, but the ITs wear quickly 'cos they're snow tyres. The AT-Ss seem to be fine so far (I've done about 4k on them to date).

if you can afford it mate get some,
                bf goodridge M/T tyres,
i have them on my surf and on my shogun,
there is no road noise at all and they are fantastic off road,
                the 31 x 10.50 x 15 are about £80 each,
but if you plan on doing some off road stuff well worth the extra money,
ive done almost 6,000 klm on mine so far and thats nearly all off road driving and they still look like new apart from the deep slice marks and digs on them,

I've done 30,000km on General Grabber A/Ts and they have loads left in them

Just remember to switch them front to back every so often as the fronts do wear out faster than the backs (the fronts get hammered for steering and brakes).

Thanks again for the information and links. Very useful, stuff there, and plenty to think about.

Presumably, if the 31x10.50x15 are slightly taller than stock, there will be a slight MPG benefit?

Is there any way to recalibrate the speedo?

MPG will be neglibable. Wont be a difference worth getting excited about - if anything it will drop a fraction due to the more effort required.

The speedo should be fine. Ive got 31.6" tall tyres on an its hardly noticable - i dont get flashed by speed cameras doing the limit indicated on my clocks.

Go for the General Grabber ATs - I've had them on my truck for a couple of years. They look great and last forever.

Thanks Paul. That was a timely posting, I was looking at the General Grabber 2's at the weekend. Rough Trax do them for a very good price. We may have a winner!
