when I brought my 4runner the moon roof was not working and the previous owner did say that if parked sloping in a certain direction you could hear water sloshing and got the odd drip.
Well after yesterdays rain got in after work to sit on a soaking seat all the way home - nice!
As the roof didn't operate i have removed the glass, applied clear silicone replaced glass and wiped the seal round the gap. I am hoping that this will do as a temporary however a couple of questions:
1) do these roofs operate on a tilt and slide mechanism.
2) there appears to be a channel on the outside of the rubber seal and I have read somewhere on this site about this being a drain and tubes running to roof pillars to drain water. There are no tubes or holes on my 4 runner!
3) would like to have an operable moon roof if possible.
can the mechanisms be repaired (motor ok looks like its the cabling/drive)?
does anyone have a second hand one?
would it be worth dumping the factory unit and getting an aftermarket manual one fitted?
any other ideas?

another short querry. when sitting in boot with tail gate shut you can see the outside through the seal at the hinge. Not noticed any water getting in but is this normal?
