if you look thru the driverside wheel arch at the pipe from the rad to thermostat housing you will see there is a clamp holding the pipe in place also.Take the bolt out and then wriggle the thermostat housing till it comes loose.Make sure the thermostat is fitted the same way as the old one is fitted

Im sure also that theres 3 bolts and not 2 as you say.

there is also a bracket further down the pipe just after where the rubber pipe joins which i thought may be stopping the housing from coming of easier

you will find it tight to get off tho as its been on there for years probably but just be careful also when torquing the bolts up again that you don't over tighten and then snap

came off easy enough although getting the stat out was difficult ...not a lot of room down there

i found a 10mm deep socket better for taking out those 2 bolts.At least you got it sorted anyway

How did you know where the thermostat was ?
