knocking

i overheated big style yesterday anybody know where thermostat is on engine? also since it happened when engine is now running theres a knocking coming from top of engine......any ideas?3.0ssrx turbo diesel by the way

It's down under the turbo.
Follow the bottom hose on the radiator and you'll see the thermostat housing.

have you got oil pressure cause when i came back from salisbury at xmas the oil pressure dropped and temp went thru the roof.i noticed the engine knocked a hell of alot more until i changed the oil & filter but the engine is still noisier than before but i put up with that

sounds exactly what happened to me yesterday i noticed the oil pressure was practically none existent ...thks a lot for that

like i say give the oil and filter a change and go from there.Did you drive far without oil pressure and high temps as i did cause i had to get back to Cornwall and blew the turbo.If the turbo has gone then it will sound like a tin of nails being shaken about

i drove about 12 miles at very slow revs......is the oil drain off nut the one at the very bottom of the engine in front of the gearbox?

the old oil is like treacle and i have taken the old oil filter off its coming out like ultra thick treacle.........is there a product u can buy that will thin old oil out?

Replace the OIL
