  • Turbonator!

    Hiya guys

Just got my 1st Surf (3ltr SSR X Ltd) I love it. Been Advised to get an American gadget called a Turbonator! Its fitted just after your Air Filter and looks like the impeller from a water/fire pump. It injects air extremely fast into the engine and apperently makes things faster and more powerfull and even helps loads with fuel economey!! (my father in law has one on his and swears by it!) My surf looks in pretty good nick but any advice on what bad things to look out for on a 94 model would be welcome

    Welcome!

The tubonator ( and the egr mod on ebay ...) is worthless! Anything you do to the airflow, is going to get chewed up by the turbo...
Make yourself at home, and don't listen to anyone who asks what colour surf you have...
    it's in me shed, mate.

i have to agree with charlie.they may be ok for naturally aspirated engines but wont make a blind bit of difference to a turbo charged engine.sorry mate and welcome to the surf emporium of pleasure.

There's no way they can speed the airflow other than temporarily if they actually reduce the diameter of the air path. It will slow down again after the device. I think it's Bernoulli's theorem that deals with such things.

As far as turbulation goes, there is little point as the turbo itself spinning at tens of thousands of revs will turbulate the airflow far more.

C'mon, you know that the colour is important.

Wine over grey under mud is the best!!! :

          Also shiny is BAD

            give him a chance kevin!

If you wanna improve power (take a 2.4 for a run and you wont want to bother) and get better mpg fit an intercooler, that will help.

Welcome to the forum. There is loads of info here and lots of people to ask, although you might not always get sensible answers.

AND there is nothing wrong in looking after you truck and giving it a good clean and polish. It helps stop the rust getting worse (if you have any, which might be difficult to see under the mud Kevin!!)
it never rain it pours! glad I got the 4X4
