low fuel light

Can one of you wise ones tell me if a 3gen has a low fuel warning light. cheers JIM

My light comes on and I seem to drive for lots of kms before I fill up and I have never run out of diesel. I guess I have driven at least 40km on some occasions, and maybe even 60-70.

if i'm right it's meant to come on with 9litres (2 gallons) left so going on a fuel consumption of say 22mpg that's 44 miles or 70km

Yeah mines got the light. Seems to come on when i have roughly 10 litres left. I can drive for quite a while after it comes on! Never quite run out yet, I keep chickenening out when playing petrol station roulette! The most I've ever been able to get into the tank was 67.5 litres... tank capacity is supposed to be 69-71 litres.

I have not got the balls to let mine go that far down it goes to the white mark on empty and i have still not seen it on so i dont even know if it works. I will only find out that it doesnt work when it runs out.

There's a gallon left in the tank when the light comes on.

How far down does the guage go down before the light actually comes on ?? Is there any way you can tell it works without letting the fuel run near dry ??

The needle goes down a hairs width past the last white mark before the light comes on.

I agree with nero279. My Owner's Manual says [quote] Low Fuel Warning: Should this light show there is only around 9 ltr of fuel left in the fuel tank. Re-fuel as soon as possible. [unquote]

I've always run all my vehicles until the fuel light comes on, and then some ( run right out several times) never had any adverse effects.
