    auto trans problems

    Got no idea what's wrong here. Never had any probs with this before,nor any indication that anything was about to happen. I have no problem in selecting any of the gears(drive,reverse,neutral) etc. But the car won't move either way.When I select it back into park it makes a horrible grinding/whirring noise. This happened after being parked up for a couple of hours. Got AA out. The guy didn't seem to know the cause either, so I left it in a safe parking spot. Any ideas before I pay for mechanic to look at?

    Sorry folks. On checking some older threads I've discovered the 'problem'. The 4wd selector was in the wrong position! Even the AA didn't know! All I've lost is a couple of hours. What a dimwit!!
