Hi to all, been logging into this site for a couple of weeks now but my first regestration failed for some reason so new one created.

Everyone here seems so helpfull and have great knowledge.

I have read the horror stories re the 2.4 diesle heads etc , prior to buying my surf nicknamed (Bad Boy hence my screen name , this is the first car i have ever given a name to but its a beastie love it) car was too good to pass up especially the condition which is excellent and the price.

Car has done 89 thousand klilometers and runs sweet as a nut, i want to give it a mini service ie: oil filter, oil change ,diesel filter and air filter etc, i have greased all ujs as stated on the card in the car, but also want to drain and refill coolant system, my question is would you reccomend draining down the system then refilling with a flushing agent and drain down again then flush out with hose pipe and refill with lovely fresh antifreeze, or would you not risk running too hot with flushing addetives ?? seeing as these can suffer with overheating , also would you change thermostat and would you do this on a yearly basis.

Also can not seem to find tyre pressure stats

Any other tips on what to do look for greartly appreciated

By the way car will have very little use brought bad boy for towing a boat so probaly less than 1 thousand a year, still cheaper than replacing clutch in my VW at a cost of £1100.00 and still stinks when towing.

    Kind Regards

    Rod

SORRY REALISED POSTED IN WRONG SECTION 3.0 INSTEAD OF 2.4 BUT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TRANSFER OVER

ROD. Welcome! 30-32 psi for the tyres, I wouldnt use a FLUSH just yet as you dont know if radweld etc had been used previously. You can drain the system & clear it out with the hose, You can go 50/50 on the antifreeze only top up using the rad cap. Replace rad cap & thermostat while your at it.
NEVER use 4wd on the Tarmac only in sand mud etc.
