Ok an update, unplugged the 3 pin plug and it changes gear as it should do. So i`m guessing an ecu fault? would any1 agree?

Sounds very much like the problem i had a while back,,After spending the best part of £1200 having parts changed, gearbox reconned, It turned out to be a faulty ECU, If you know someone else with the same motor as yours try swapping over the ECU's

It's easier than going thru all the hassles i went thru

      Hope this helps

I'm still searching for a replacement ECU for 1 of my 3 surfs, they seem like near impossible to find, have come across quite a few for the 2.4's.

If you get one before me, and by some chance it doesn't correct your fault then let me know and i'll buy it from you.

Hey Tony......... Any update on my (poo ey) green surf??????Failed to sell the grey one twice now,I'm starting to get storage problems again!!!!!!

          Cheers

            Hi
Had the same prob, ran the surf with the gearbox unplugged (manually changing gear) until I found (second hand in Japan £250 - risky) a ECU, just fitted it yesterday and every thing seemed to work ok for about the first 50 miles but I am now getting OD light flashing intermittently, turn the engine off it clears and overdrive is back for a while. Looks like the ECU might not be the bargain of the year.
