  • Help please

Hi everybody, this is my first posting on a forum so please be kind... I am a newbie owner of Surfs and as such relatively ignorant. I appear to have a warning light on the instrument panel, unfortunately there is no lens covering it, and i am therefore unable to identify what the problem is! there seems to be several of the lenses missing off this display but the one that is staying on is 3rd one from the right ( i think) the one on the extreme right seems to be for the ect/suspension there is then a gap and then this warning light is on. Is it a "malfunction warning"? this is the only other thing i can find reference to in a photocopy of an owners manual (which may not be correct for my model) If this correct, what could the malfunction be and do I need to take it to a main dealer? Any help that anyone can offer would be gratefully accepted. Many thanks in advance,Joe... Sorry forgot to mention its a 3.0TD on an "L" reg plate. Thanks Joe.

these are the dash warning lights mate, try the overdrive button on the gear shifter (if its an auto) the ect button on the consol with the shifter, and the hard/soft suspension setting button.

as yours is a 3.0 it wont have the turbo light on the speedo

        warning light

Thanks for the prompt replies to my dilema..It doesn't appear to be any of these... its the light underneath and slightly to the right of the odometer trip reset button. from the page in the owners manual it doesn't seem to have a designation? I have tried all the buttons/switches to see if it has any effect but it seems not? I am becoming more confused as to what it can be, i thought perhaps it was a low fuel warning but i refuelled it last night and the damn thing is still lit! Any further ideas as to what it could be? Thanks Joe

hi mate, according to a hand book i've got the third light from the extreem right as the cruise control operation light.
the cruis control set switch is on the stearing wheel, my stearing wheel is after-market and only has a horn on it, and no cruise control options,

Could be the o/d off indicator. Try pressing the o/d button on the side of the gear shift.

book says, Spare wheel carrier is not locked in place properly when the ignition is in the on position this light will show.
i would sugest a blast of W/D 40 if the carrier is locked up fine, probably a dojy contact.

Dave, you're a star...thanks very much to everyone who offered their advice. Problem solved now the spare wheel is securely located... Until the next problem arises...Joe
