Advice please.

Morning all.
I have a gen 3 KZN185 3 litre TD Surf. What oil is generally recommended for this engine and how many litres does it require. Is fully synthetic the best. At the moment I think it is running on 5/40 fully synthetic and this seems too thin to me. The vehicle has covered 86000 miles.
The speedo and rev counter have stopped working and the rear window does not work. All other electrics are working fine though

I would have thought 10/40 would be better, you will need around 7 1/2 litres.

semi should be fine, just remember to change it regularily
