  • rattle that sounds like the top end

as the title says : as i got home last night only driven about 2 miles and as i pulled into my drive i noticed what sounds like a tappet noise. Im not too sure if it is the top end.The noise seem to race with the increase of revs

do surfs have any issues with oil starvation to the top end as i read that the cams are supposed to be solid. i have changed the oil about 4 weeks ago with a new filter

    Cheers Andy

Could be the harmonic balancer on the bottom pulley.
Mine makes a noise every now and then, so when the engine is idling I give the bottom pulley a squirt of WD40 and it goes quiet.

Give the alternator pulley a squirt too, that can be noisy sometimes.

I think he means the crank pulley, mine became very noisey, combination of rattle & squeak ( or bubble & hum? ) had to replace it.
