Name that knob......!

What's the bit beneath the ignition? Is it the throttle knob minus the knob? Looks like an odd cable in the footwell also.

Fast-idle / hand throttle, turn it clockwise, it might take a few turns, if the revs come up thats what it is

It's the cloaking device switch. You're lucky to have one as nearly all Surfs have no switch for it.
Also, no-one knows if their Surf has a cloaking device or wether it's been activated until some idiot pulls out in front of them.

Not on a 3.0, idle up is a switch on the dash. Are you sure its not a switch for spots that have been removed.
