  • My old oily mechanic wants to know?

    She just passed her MOT, flying colours!! One thing they picked up on tho was play in the rear offside wheel! Keep an eye on it they say! My old oily mech wants to knowsorry about the below but i'm not good with mechanics)

    is the bearing on the way out?

    or are there shims that can get rid of movement?

    how much movement should be or not be there?

      Just a plain ball bearing, you can't adjust it. It'll need changing when it wears enough that oil leaks past the seal, but if you do it earlier you can save covering the rear brakes with oil.

            Just reminded me, on my last MOT the same was said about my front nearside wheel is the reply the same or are they adjustable?
            Laugh!!! I nearly bought my own beer.

              Yep, as the 2nd gen has taper roller bearings on the front wheels. Just tighten the big nut to take up the slack.
