smoke blue/grey

Hi evryone i had a overheating problem that is now fixed but im getting puffs of blue/grey smoke from the exhaust. the smoke mainly appears after the engine has heated up and when i pull away from juntions. i have been told it could be the heads or gasket. any ideas and where i could get it fixed in hertfordshire.

just removed the oil cap and am getting blow back also needing to top up rad
with about a pint a day(could this be a header or gasket problem).cheers

Next time the truck is warm just get someone to stand behind it. Let it idle for about 4-5 mins and then you rev it up a bit as if pulling away. If your 'friend' is blue/oily/dead then your cyl. head is probably ok, but valve stem oil seals perished. EITHER keep topping up oil or replace them which involves removing the head (I think) ... The choice is yours

As long as the smoke is not white it probably wont be a head problem. Mine smokes when pulling from junctions after idling for a while, this is usually caused by unburnt fuel, it will probably also smoke if you floor it. I find it usefull for putting down a smoke screen when someone is following too close

Try using a diesel treatment like Redex and give it a decent run the smoke will probably disappear for a while or try the mod where you block off the EGR valve pipe with a tie
