  • Worth upgrading the exhaust?

    Hi there,

Is it worth upgrading the exhaust for more power on a 94 3.0TD 4runner; i understand they have a larger diameter than the 2.4 as stock?

    Cheers, Paul.

On the aussie site they seem to swear by it - its one of the most popular mods.

Is there a particular make thats good, or do they need to be custom fabbed?

How restrictive is the stock exhaust manifold?

      Cheers, Paul.

you will get no more than 5bhp through exhaust change alone
Letting the turbo breath cooler air i.e intercooler and remap engine management is the only way if serious you will then be into uprated fuel pump to feed it and boost control units.
Drop in on any skyline forum or the 200sx forum lots of info on squeezing power from turbo engines. some car porn my pre surf baby

You can't do much about the manifold, as its part of the turbo set up, make sure the new exhaust is larger directly from the turbo flange fitting. You don't need to go uber huge, 1/4" bigger dia pipe seems to get great results, especialy if used with uprated injectors and intake mods.
