  • Turbo light not working

    Hi there,

My turbo light doesn't work, i can here the turbo whooshing and it feels reasonably nippy, but the dash light doesn't come on.

    Is this a common one?

    Cheers, Paul.

This was asked a few months ago on another 4Runner. The opinion was that it's a warning light to indicate any problems with turbo boost pressure.

Basically, if it comes on, turbo boost fault. If it stays off, then turbo is OK.

Yeah, UK 3.0TD 4Runners have a turbo over-pressure light on the rev counter, and a engine check light along the bottom with all the other idiot lights. 3.0TD Surfs have the engine check light in the rev counter.

2.4's have a green 'up to boost' light on the left of the rev counter, and a engine check light on the right.

Can confirm the above - mine is exactly the same. Light on - turbo over boost, light off - everything cool. Problem is mine keeps coming on even at low revs (1000 - 2000) when the turbo isn't even engaged.
