turbo gone on passat.

Hi peeps,

Hope I,m in the right section . But would anyone know what the possible problem could be with my passat 1.9 se turbo year 99. It has lost the turbo power especially up inclines. Thought I'd ask here without taking it to main dealers, then big £££££s Car runs fine on motorways but when it needs the turbo up hills then I have to change down

You've got boost problems. Have a look around the turbo for loose or detatched wires/hoses, also check the air filter is clean and in the tubes leading to the turbo.

I,ve two questions if anyone can answer them

Which is the most economical. ECT on or ECT off.?

Are there any major problems in fitting a new turbo to a 1993 2.4 Turbo Diesel.?The reason I want to do this is that she seems to be taking an eternity to change up.Mileage by the way is 111,000

ECT off. When it's on, the engine revs higher before up shifting, meaning you'll be using more fuel.

sound like you may have an air leak somewhere. get the car on a dyno first it will be way cheaper than getting a new turbo
