Hi all I'm about to flush the cooling system on my 2nd gen 3.0 L TD, now the thermostat housing is 'interesting' but the three bolts are accessable with out too much effort, its just that 'what if one shears off' ...It would be a nightmare to repair...any words of wisdom, reassurance etc 'this never happens' greatly appreciated...

I removed the bolts from underneath, they shouldn't be that tight anyway.

with any steel bolt in alloy always slightly tighten before undoing it so you brake the seal i learnt the hard way years ago when i buggered up 9 of 16 gearbox bolts on a motor bike, if it wont budge then smack it from the side with a hammer
Surf.gone but not forgottendisco now gone aswell
