torque converter??

ok, my 94 surf has started worrying me today, i've had it 3 years with no problems apart from the usual propshaft bearing failure but now it's developed a new quirk. when accelerating hard it kicks down as normal but then the revs climb and the vehicle slows as if the handbrake patially on. it's perfectly ok when just pootling about and selects all gears normally and smoothly.

any ideas? hopefully inexpensive ones

first thing to do ,(If you havn't all ready ) is check the fluid level when hot!

leave the engine running when checking! Run through all the gears ist, back and forwards to fill all the chambers with fluid.

level is fine but the fluid is more brown than red......i'll replace it and see what happens

If the fluid is brown, it's knackered and needs replacing.

partially blocked fuel filter .....runs great again now
