    have you checked your fluid?
the engine must be running and then select all gears and go back to park, keep the engine running and then take the reading.

Sounds very much like a sticking shift solenoid in the tranny. You have two in that type to control the shifts and it's common for one to stick. The Ecu picks up on the fact that the transmission is not doing what its been told and will place it in failsafe, ie over drive and flash the O/D Off light to tell you so.
Try reading the fault codes from the transmission, You'll probably get 'open or short circuit on no 1 or 2 solenoid'. If you search the forums theres info on how to retrieve the fault codes and what they mean etc..

Just had this problem this morning!
Jumped in my car to discover she won't select drive from park.
No click could be heard when I put my foot on the brake and shifter won't budge.
I turned off, pressed red button and selected N, started her up and stuck it in drive.
I'm off to get my solenoids looked at

Are you saying if a bulb goes it knocks the circuit out?
I'll check them first thing tomorrow, cheers mate.

What a bizarre fix! So brakelight loads affect the gearshift?! Why? Not... dare I say it... poor design?!

its good design! you wouldnt want to drive with your brake lights not working, would you? its cos the shift lock is worked off the brake light switch
