  • 3rd Gen timing belt light reset

    Hi everyone,
I recently aquired a 1996 Surf and am working my way through all the servicing jobs. I have just replaced the timing belt, even though the indicator was not on, as it's six years since it was last done, according to the sticker. Can anyone help as regards the "Reset", I believe the instrument cluster has to be removed ? If so, what else do I need to do?

    Richard.

Do not reset the light until it comes on as you will only have to do it again i did it myself and allthough it is easy it is still a pain in the ass.

As for how to do it use the search bar at the top of the page

Got it all sorted now, once I had found this thread.

The image of the back of the instrument cluster was all that I needed, done in 45 minutes, this included removing the two trapped dead flies.

Can anyone post this photo? The link doesn't appear to be working, that is, it doesn't bring you to a photo or description or anything. Much obliged.
