  • Whats the Problem with 235/70/16 tyres.??

Hi guys as one of you pointed out "Dog Book" on my other threads 235/70/16 tyres on my New x4 16x8 alloys are not wide enough.??

What proplem will these give me if i go ahead and have this fitted to my Surf.??

Its just that the 235/70/16 is what the manufacturer is going to fit to them, but i have been told that it must be 265/70/16.!!

    Why is this.??

As you can tell i am a novice.??

    Please advise asap thanks..

They wont give you a problem, they will be fine, but 265 is a wider tyre and looks better.

      Have a look at this

The 3rd gen surfs have 16" wheels and use 265 tyres. I am lead to belive that this sixe also matches the 31" tyres on a 15" rim.......235 would be a smaller overall dia. Stay close to stock sizes i say.......

If you check the tyre dia. calculator on the forum home page this will comfirm my findings..........

So if i fit 265/70/16 tyres on these 16" rims with +10 off set will they rub any where on full lock.??

I do how ever have 3" height lift suspension on my Surf.???

So will they rub/catch any where.???

              Please advise.!!!

The rolling dia is smaller, so your speedo will be out. Plus it may look odd as even though youve got bigger rims the tyre dia. will be too small.....see the chart on the home page. You want to keep dia.s close to standard.

Will it be out by much either too much or too less.??

Standard is 15x7 with 265/70/15, or those 31" 15 tyres.......

265/70/16 work out at about 30.5" tall x 10.5" wide, so they are still slightly smaller than the 31" option from the factory so they won't rub on standard offset rims.
