****** loud noise!!!!

Can anybody Help??? My 3.0 SSR-X has started making a really bad noise. It sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side wheel. The noise is quite intermittent and is relative to the speed. The car is in the garage at the mo and they said that the noise completely disappears when you enage 4WD. The wheel bearing has just been replaced so we know it is'nt that. Any body experienced this before??
