  • cylinder head gasket

hi just returned from caravaning holiday in scotland with the surf on the back of a tow truck. head gasket blew which is strange for a 3.0 surf but there you go anyone know of a reliable garage in preston area that could fit a new gasket also a vague idea how much this work would cost.Being without the surf is like having your right arm cut off. Many thanks,Steve.

Gasket and gasket set (genuine) from Toyota are about £180 - you can get them cheaper from Roughtrax (also genuine parts).

Tony is doing one on a Landcruiser (same engine) as we speak, I think he's charging about £350 for labour - but you can reckon to pay double or triple that at Toyota.

I had the head replaced on mine for £1400 (should have gone to see Tony)

So a head gasket job should come out much cheeper

        Hi Steve,

You are not a million miles from Stevo up there. Do a name search and PM him.

If not Roughtrax sell the head/parts etc, they are more cash than you've quoted, but its a reliable known scorce.

                Hi,
I have had no dealings yet with the below noted firm, but they are near you, maybe time to call and see what they have to offer:-

                http://www.valley4x4.com

they seem to have a variety of toyota engines transmissions and parts for sale and are only at "ossie" must be a chance, surely ?

Sorry to hear of your current misfortune, hope this helps.
                Peter
