How easy is it to replace my shock absorbers?

Is there anywhere that gives detailed instructions for such a job, and are there any special tools needed?

would i need to replace anything else at the same time as the shocks?

    yours in ignorance

well i ordered the shocks, but not sure if i need them now after just replacing the anti roll bar bushes and suddenly everything seems so much firmer.

Anyway, they're ordered so they'll get used eventually.

One question does spring to mind (pun intended) and thats the springs. I noticed the shock absorber goes through the middle of the spring, but i cannot see how the spring is attached at the bottom. Will the shock just slide out from within the spring once the bolts are removed? or is this a more complex job than i thought it might be?

you take the complete strut out (shock and spring) blot at top and bottom

then you'll see that there's a plate holding the top of the spring in...
get some spring compressors and wind them on to take the pressure off, then you'll be able to un bolt the strut asembly

better if you compress the suspension first... clamp it (while still on the car)... then when you remove the strut it will be much easier...

it's not a difficult job... just hard work cos you're working against the spring.
