OK, I've done the search and out of 57 items I still cannot find out where to connect a turbo gauge up to my 3ltr.
Anybody enlighten me ??????????
Dead easy. Find the boost sensor which is connected to the inlet manifold via a small pipe and one way valve. Should be just under the intake pipe near the air cleaner. Put a t connector bettween the valve and the manifold so your gauge then shows boost pressure and vacum of boost. Mine works fine...
Boost sensor has wires into it by the way....lol...
What sort of boost figures are people seeing? Doing the static test as in the manual - clutch in 4600rpm (scared silly sounds like its going to blow) I show about 9 psi (OK by the book) but when actualy driving it peaks at 12 psi, has anyone else got similar readings?

Similar, my 3.0 had about 10psi static and around 11 when moving, so with the boost adjuster i only got another 1psi before the cut-out kicked in.
Dog_Book, what happened when the cut out kicked in? does the engine stop or the warning light come on? did you have to reset it?

You can get a fuel cut defender which allows you to wind the boost pressure up even more But if your doing that, you should also up your fuel pressure too!

Its like a rev limiter. When it over boosts the engine is stopped from revving anymore to save it from problems. So i just turned the boost down until it ran ok at full throttle. No warning lights just a loss of power making it undriveable.

Just fitted the turbo gauge (£12.50 on E-BAY) working OK as far as I can tell, shows 0.6 bar at about 3000 rpm anyone know what that is in old money?

Having looked a bit more at the turbo gauge I've noticed that it never goes down into the green section i.e into the vacuum section, is this normal for a diesel as whenever I have had one fitted to a petrol engine it always went full over to the left on deceleration.

diesels dont show vacuum at all or at least not very well (or is that autos?) - I can get mine in the green if I coast for long enough downhill - ie under no load.

1 bar = 1 x std atmospheric pressure at sea level (15psi).
so 0.6 bar is about 9psi which is right according to the book.
