Can someone give me a few pointers on how to change the lower and upper balljoints. Mine are comepletely shot. Also i have wheel bearings to change is it a good idea to do this at the same time.
They are no trouble, the bottom wishbone will drop down after undoing the nuts, then remove the ball joint with a ball joint splitter. Top wishbone you can lever up with a big crowbar, or put you foot on the lower W/B and push down to get the ball joint out.
The wheel bearings are OK, just pull the drive flange, undo the bearing nuts, remove the circlip on the drive shaft, undo the caliper and hang it out the way. Then punch the old bearings out and push new ones in.

Ok got that done now. Wasnt as bad as I thought and after having a few good ideas took me 2 1/2 hours to change all four.
The surf is now feeling like a shes been in for a nip and tuck .Handling is much better and the wobble has gone.Im still going to change the wheel bearing ,but they can wait till nexy week as I think im gonna chnage the discs too.

Did you use a balljoint splitter or brute force and ignorance?? I'm going to have a go at this myself next week (all four) would like some advice.
It seems to easy in this thread or am I just paranoid????
