Do I have EGR?

Hello,

Looking all those threads about blocking the EGR valve I begin to read and learn what is the EGR.

I just wanted to test blocking it, but I don't find it... Maybe diesel 4Runners don't have it?

Mine is a '94 3.0TD 4Runner.

A pic of the area where the EGR is supposed to be:



And looking to the engine I get a doubt, what is this pipe? Turbo discharge valve? Don't think so...

Thats the breather hose for the head and the pic shows it going back into the intake at the turbo.

The EGR is the other side of the engine.

If you scrape some of the mud off you might be able to find it.

Its a brass coloured disc about three inches across(oops thats old money )/75mm and is in the same position you are looking, but on the other side of the engine.

Ups, I saw some pics that showed the EGR near the gasoil filter and tought that was in that side. I'm going to the parking to see it.

Ah! My 4Runner never, never, never smokes, only if you have to put 2nd gear (For example) and put 4th... This is normal!

I must be silly or my 4Runner have no EGR... I don't find it!

I suppose that you know but my 4Runner is left-hand driven...

UK deisel 4Runners don't have it or the electronically controlled fuel pump, I assume all Europe models are the same.

They are the differences in the 4Runners 1KZ-T and the Surfs 1KZ-T/E
