Intermitant squeal !

I own a 95 surf 3.0d auto and i have a very annoying intermitant squeal that comes from around the gear shift area. It happens usually between 800 - 1800 rpm in or out of drive stationary or moving it sounds very much like a squealing fan belt but its not as i have checked them all out ! it doesnt seem to matter if it is warm or cold the noise sounds worse in the car than outside if anyone has come across this noise or has any usfull information about fixing it i would be very greatfull as it is driving me up the wall !!!

Try checking the heat deflector plates on your exhaust. I had trouble with 1 just under the drivers footwell making a loud squeek. May not be that but its easy to check and at least you have illiminated 1 thing.
