oil pressure & noise

hi can anybody help,

i have got a 93 4 runner (3litre TD) and although the oil light goes out the oil pressure gauge shows nothing as the revs rise, and its engine now appears to be noisy. it used to have good pressure on the gauge.

since i noticed i havnt run it which kind of makes diagnosis difficult

ive heard it may be the oil pick up or a knackered pump and hopefully not bearings

bearing in mind the pain in the a*se to even drop the sump has anybody experienced anything similar or got any ideas as to where i might begin

If the oil warning light goes out you got pressure! the oil gauge on the 4runners always read very low on idle unless you have really thick engine oil in there! increases with revs/load but mine has never made it to half way! If i were you id start it up and have a butchers at the engine! may be lose exhaust shield rattling! or injector knocking neither of these will do any harm
