I want to get a 3.0L td because i've done a lot of research on it..and it seems to be one of the best diesels out there. I want to either get one out of Europe or Africa. Wish we would have them here in the USA..but unfortunately we don't. Are the motor mounts the same? or will there be fabrication involved?

There are a !!!! load of Surfs here in Zimbabwe now...someone cottoned on to the fact that they are a good, cheap 4x4 and brought in a load direct from Japan. No 3.0 TDs though, they all seem to be 2.4 petrols or diesel. Petrol and diesel engines have completely different mounts so there will be a fair amount of rejigging involving the gear box, transfer box etc - I just don't think it will be economical - better just to buy a UK 3.0 TD in the UK, save on all the shipping and workshop time.
No.1 mod for Africa: get the rad re-built from 3 to 5 core and "loose" the viscous coupling.@africa4x4cafe

Theres 2 sorts of 3.0TD, the Jap import version which is all electronic, and you'd virtually need a donor car to get all the wiring looms and ECU's scattered around the car, or the UK/Europe one which has a throttle cable operated fuel pump instead of the 'fly by wire' Surfs. But there is still plenty of electronic junk in it, I wouldn't fancy it.
Personally, I'd dump a I-6 Supra Turbo motor, or a 3.4 chevy motor in it, much more fun than a oil burner.
I don't get you Yanks, you have the best motors in the world, and you mention a deisel powered Toyota on US 4x4 forums and you go all dewy eyed. I've spent my life ditching stock Toy motors for V8's and you lot are going the other way.
