  • Four wheel drive not engaging

    Hi
    My four wheel drive does not engage when I put it in Hi or Lo when I press the button I hear a small click but ir does not engage or show up on dash. Can anyone help? Thanx

      Are you acually moving forwards? they take awhile for all the bits to line up.

      Look for a loose vacuum pipe or wiring plugs around the T/case and on the front axle. The solonid on the rear of the t/case often sticks if its not used for years.

        Thanks for the info. I have just checked the hoses to the VSV's but it does not seem like thier is any vacuum (I am not sure how much suction you should feel?) The solenoid on the VSV seems to click when you press the engage button so would it be a pipe that is broken/disconnected?

          Help needed desperate

          I have now found the problem I think. On the vacuum pipe that serves the vaccum tank there is a filter but just before the filter there is a three way T-piece' one pipe is attached but one has no pipe attached and air is escaping there. Can anyone tell me what pipes attache to the T-piece ?

            Could not find any clues of what year surf you have, so try updating your profile.
