boost controller & guage

I have just bought a boost guage and manual boost controller for my surf. has anyone else tried any turbo/performance mods similar? what psi would you recommend going upto?

Be sure to have a pyrometer installed prior to experimenting with boost levels. If you install the thermocouple after the turbo, beware that your EGT readings will be much lower than if it is intalled at the exhaust manifold.

I run with 12lb boost and have no problems.

It works very well when towing on those long slow hills

where did you hook up the vaccum line that goes to the boost controller?

cant seem to find it - I would like to know where to fit the t piece to feed my boost gauge.

All sorted now runing at 12 psi.

I fitted the t-piece on the passenger side of the engine bay. There is a little electronic box thingy with a vaccum line onnected to it with a label on it sayung turbo boost controller or something similar. I spliced it in there.

That's exactly where mine is.

Have you noticed any difference with the power output on acceleration?

where would be a good place to cut into for the illumination lighting for my gauge? not sure where to put it yet but need to cut into the dash lights somewhere.

Yes and I think I have found the most efficent way of turning fuel into noise.

boost gauge is in hoorah - just got to get round to wiring the light.
seems to be running at about 6bar in most gears, peak is almost 7bar.
Dunno what that is in PSI but seems about right

1 bar = 14.54 psi, so 6 bar = 87.24 psi
