2LTE turbo leak

Hi fellow Surf owners, I have a 2L-TE 93 surf and I've got a problematic turbo that consumes too much oil and there's no boost and very little power compared to what it should be. In fact, at the beginning of 2012, the engine ceased because it drank up all the oil and after the rebuild I've been using it sparingly because of the oil issues. Just recently, a couple of months back, I noticed that the turbo timer simply could not turn on anymore, even though there was no boost for such a long time, I could still press the turbo timer button and it would come on, well that went all shot and now I think the turbo is totally dead and it doesn't make any sound now.

Another problem is I'm in the middle of the South Pacific (Solomon Islands) so finding a turbo charger or a rebuild kit or even a mechanic who would know about these things is pretty difficult to say the least. Some mechanics have suggested though that I remove the turbo completely and change the fuel pump to a mechanical one.
