speedo not working

hi everyone im back with a new surf just the one problem the speedo isnt working any ideas please??

I would start with the dash buddy
Had the same prob with mine
After swapping the rear gearbox sensor with a known working one and it still not working I then changed the dash and it worked fine.

Is the o/d light flashing?

yep o/d light is flashing away, i have chased up a thread on here regarding how they are connected, when you say replace dash are you meaning the whole clock assembly or is there a sensor on the back?? thanks for replys guys

Not sure if there is a sensor on the back, I just changed the hole unit(speedo/rev counter) £25 eBay with similar mileage.

no mate not just yet ive got a few things that need sorting ready for the bad weather that's coming if it dose I am going to get it sorted next few weeks, when I do ill post here if it fixes problem.

Mine's gone as well. Mileage is still going round. Presumably illegal to drive without it working?

No at all...you only need the mileometer by law...last time i looked anyway

Mine doesn't work from when I leave my street to the top of the hill (60 seconds or so)...then it wakes up.

neither speedo or mileage on mine works, i have checked sensor on gearbox all wires ect but nothing so guess i need to just replace whole unit, no idea on the law regarding this issue however it wasnt tested on mot 2 month's ago so i just use my sat nav as a speedo:

Mine was intermittent but now seems pretty dead. It doesn't seem to be changing up through the gears quite right either which could be related. Some thread-searching to do ....

Are the plugs to the speedo underneath the dashboard? I re-seated as many as I could get hold of and thought I'd sorted it but it's gone again and I was stuck in 1st gear yesterday. It seems OK when cold and then clicks out after a few minutes. After doing this today the gears and speedo came back to life just now when the revs went over 3k. Presumably this is a loose connection somewhere?

had to change whole dash on mine to get speedo to work mileometer went round od light flashed speedo was not wrking so swapped it for a £30 from ebay alls fine now
