  • Turbo Charger Blown

    Hi Folks,

My Turbo charger just packed in, as I was driving down the motorway. A significant loss of power, She still drives but wont go over a 100 km an hour. Is it alright to keep driving her about ?

And does anyone have any suggestions where I can pick up a new one.

    Many Thanks,

    Kurt

I wouldn't drive it, if it comes apart completely you risk damaging the engine with bits of turbo...

I sold my scrap CT20 to these guys, they gave me lots of advice and do a service kit for £55 if the main shaft, impellers and casings are ok.

Mine couldn't hang on to 50mph...oil straight into the inlet...you can just see it in the vid.

Check the 'J' shaped rubber pipe hasn't come off before you condemn the turbo...... (See link below)

          Bushwacker,
I think you may have outdone yourself this time, that was it, pipe was off at one end, i just threw a jubillee clip on both ends and im going to take her for a spin to check.
There is a bit of oil around the turbo housing and also a sound of grinding bearings or maybe im paranoid from reading a few bits over the past hour.
          anyway,
          Il see if this works.

          Thanks

          Kurt

Sounds like good news...Turbo is easy to check if you want to reassure yourself.
