if you take a glowplug out and stick coat hanger wire in there

  • if you take a glowplug out and stick coat hanger wire in there

    can you tell TDC from that?
    or does it have to be the injector hole

    I ask because I don't know if there's a straight line between the bottom of where the glowplug goes to the top of the piston or if the gloplug is titled too far up
    I know it can be done with the injector hole, but too much stripping to get an injector out!!

    Why not use the timing marks?

            when all of your timing marks are aligned, you will be at TDC

                      I've always assumed TDC referred to the compression stroke on the cycle, not the exhaust stroke. Maybe I was wrong and everyone except me understands it to just mean 'piston at top of cylinder' ?
