  • blown head

Hi there my step dad has a 2.4 ssx manual and has been told the head is blown by the ppl he got it from. My question is - how do i know if its the head or the gasket? i realise if i seperate them ill need to replace the gasket ( and bolts?) but is there a way i can check it without too much trouble. As you realise cost wise theres probs alot of difference.

No one here would advise you use a cheap replacement either. Best get the head off and get it replaced.
    Non intercooled nothing.

Search for 'sniffer test' on here to check if the head is cracked.

It won't be just the gasket, it never is.

I can never seem to find the search facility on here. And do i take the head to a garage to be checked if i cant see any cracks or should it go to a specialist for that?
