  • Over heating..

I was driving on the motorway this afternoon and noticed that water was gushing from under the nearside of the bonnet. After looking under I noticed that the expansion tank lid had blown off and was blowing steam from the pipe within.
The temp gage was also in the red. After letting her cool down I noticed that there was no water in the main hoses to the rad. There doesn’t seem to be any split hoses and the oil is not creamy, it looks like it normally does.
After speaking to 3 garages to try and get the work done they have come back to me with the following issues which could have caused this:
    1) Head gasket.
    2) Water pump.
    3) Blockage.

Could anyone shed any light on this as to what the cause could be?
    Many thanks.

How long you had the motor???
It could be any of the above or a duff stat or rad cap or viscous fan not working. May have been an airlock but if you have had the motor a while then doubt it to be an air lock.
Bit of a process off illimination, refill system and make sure its free of air blocks heaters to hot.
When the engine is stone cold take off the rad cap and start it up, if it pushes out coolant a lot then probably the head or stat, only sure way ito test the head is a pressure test.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

STEVO is an engine specialist based in stockport he knows the 2.4 like the back of his hand if you need his no contact me by pm. NO BULL GOOD PRICE Garages wont have a clue about the 2.4 surf so be careful The head gasket never seams to go on the 2.4 surf the worse case scenario is a duff head
