  • Brake caliper bracket missing.

Hello all.... I have got a pinging metallic rattle from my n/s wheel area, which after a bit of poking around today, I think may be as a result of the brake caliper bracket missing. It's the cruciform shaped bracket that fits over the pins as shown in the first photo of the link below.

The pins are still in place, which I assume can't fall out unless the wheel is off. So my question is - is it unsafe to drive with this missing over the next day or two while I source another one?

    Many thanks.... David

    It's just an anti-rattle plate.
As long as the spring clip that secures the end of the pins is in place, it'll be OK to use the truck.

What brake pad thickness are you at?

Thanks Vince, will check the spring clip in the morning.

I don't know how thick they are Shokenore... Not familiar with brakes at all, except I did comment last week that they weren't great. So I will investigate further.

So ironically the spring clip was still intact on the N/side but gone on the O/side though it still has a the anti rattle plate in place.

All the pads are about 4 or 5mm thick - I read another thread that when they reached this thickness it was generally the time to change them?

Also I don't see the anti rattle plate available online anywhere except as part of a complete second hand caliper set on ebay, so would anyone have one knocking around they would part with please?

The spring clips are available at the usual stockists so would get them with the pads.

          many thanks.... David
