  • Water pump weep hole

Noticed three or four dribbles of water coming from what I expect is the water pump weep hole.

No real pattern and no real water loss (have yet to top up for over a week)

Obviously would I be right in thinking it ain't gonna repair itself, and I will need a new water pump, but surely if it is leaking it would leak all the time?

or is it just one of those tings?

It's an early warning, I'd get it done before the water pump bearing falls to bits and you loose all the coolant before you realise.

        ^^ x2.

The weep hole (actually a tell tale) is there for a reason.

If it's dribbling from the weep hole, it's gubbed. Get a new one.

              Get a new-new one.

If it blowing by the seal on a new pump (assuming its not a random bit of rubbish off ebay, and the belts wern't over tightened), you need to investigate the reason (usually expensive) that its got excessive pressure in the cooling system.

so as an update went for a spin in the truck parked up and let it idle for a bit and no drips?

still change the pump as a matter of urgency?

You may not see the dreep when the truck is warm and running. The coolant will evaporate or be flung from the pulley.
