sooty exhaust

Hi,can anyone help ive just fitted anew air filter to my 2.4td surf and i,m not sure if it is connected but had atrip to weymouth and back and the end of my exhaust pipe is very sooty. Any ideas? i would be very grateful for any help. had mine for about 9months,gasket &head went the work was done by the dealer and all ok (air con dont work tho)thanks great site.

sooty exhaust is normal... i'd go back and get the air con sorted though, esp in this warm weather... you could melt!
