right peeps only had my surf for a couple weeks bought it with very light panel damage wing door wheel arches got some off here and got it on the road engine was sweet as a nut but the water pump had a weep on it so replaced it along with rad temp goes to just under half way an stays there no matter what the engine load is .
thats the good bit
now for the bad
its always started first time but with a bit of a missfire and blackish smoke that cleared within a couple seconds then ran spot on until today when a loud clacking started coming from [sounds like] the top of the engine sounds like when a hydraulic lifter goes.
noise was accompanied by a very slight loss of power still starts at the click of the key just got this HORRIBLE FAIRLY LOUD CLACKING SOUND i have pulled the rocker cover off expecting to see some disaster but every thing looks ok .
so anyy idea,s please
