  • Oil Leak

Hopefully one of the adults will read this?

After eliminating any oil leaks from the breather pipe, are there any other common oil leak areas to look for....it is more Torey Canyon than Amoco Cadiz well ok slight exaggeration more of a small weep but it is quite annoying not enough to require top ups between oil changes but enough to stain the drive should I spend hours looking and trying to fix it or buy a bag of cement?

    Hi mate,

    Look in these area's first.

Crank seal, camshaft seal, cam cover, as it goes over the
front cam bearing, thats where mine leaked a lot of oil.
cured it with a bit of instant gasket gooey stuff.

    Hope this helps.

    Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

Mine leaked from the back of the rocker cover even after a new gasket, i didn't realise at first that there is a half round piece at the rear where the cover fastens down. There was nothing to seal this with so a good clean and some rt silicone when it went back on and the job was a good un.
        Non consternationes.

Mine looks like it has the same issue according to Bazcam, who had a quick look at Avalanche. Still got to get around to fixing it though

Mate, depending on where it is, and how much you are losing, which in your case is nothing, oil is cheap!!! put something down where you park her, old sack whatever, and replace every so often.
